Ames Creek Restoration Phase 3: Riparian and Wetland Planting

Habitats worked with the South Santiam Watershed Council, USFS Sweet Home Ranger District and City of Sweet Home in implementing the Ames Creek Restoration - Phase 3 project. The project included planting nearly 10,000 native shrubs, forbs, livestakes, sedges and rushes, as well as sowing and mulching of wetland, riparian and temporary groundcover seed mixes throughout the site. Habitats was also selected for the first year maintenance of the planting that included monitoring, weeding and irrigating the new plants through the summer. A maintenance guide and monitoring forms were developed and students were trained to provide supplemental weeding.
