Planting DesignsPlants can be combined in almost infinite ways to create beautiful landscapes and theme gardens. Ultimately, it is the local conditions, such as soil pH, sun exposure, and wetland, riparian or upland eco-types that will dictate what species of plants will thrive, but within these constraints there are many exciting opportunities. We emphasize planting designs and practices that minimize maintenance while maximizing the health and beauty of the planting, and we will not include invasive, problematic, or overused plants. Habitats has created edible, xeric, low allergen, bulb, herb, cut flower, and lunar gardens. We‘ve undertaken Chinese, English, Northwestern and Contemporary gardens and those using Vaastu and wabi-sabi philosophies. We’ve designed wildlife, bird, butterfly, and honey bee attracting gardens, as well as cat and deer deterring gardens.
